Established for God’s Glory 1984

Maranatha Mission Home Network, Inc. was founded by Thomas and Kathleen Murphy in 1984 in Chestnut Hill Philadelphia. Thomas and Kathleen dedicated their lives to helping others heal from addiction and the culture of poverty, using the money they earned from a whole foods produce stand called “Root of Jesse Produce” to support individuals and families on their journey to healing.

The Murphy’s moved to upstate New York and purchased a farmette in Hartwick while continuing their mission to help others heal from their addictions in a holistic process, taking in individuals and families who suffered from homelessness, poverty, and addiction. The mission home quickly developed into a learning community to assist families to receive an education while at the mission home.

Years later, Thomas and Kathleen’s children have paved their own paths to helping others in their communities and across the nation.

Dr. Carolyn McKeon, the oldest of the three, opened “Valley Learning Community” in Williamsport, PA in 2019 and has been one of the leading voices of the homeschooling and unschooling movements for over twenty years.

Tom Murphy, the youngest, struck out on his own with “Sweethearts & Heroes” an anti-bullying campaign founded in 2010 to assist families and individuals who are victims of bullying.

Kristin Murphy, the middle child, continues her parents’ work as a licensed mental health and addiction therapist in St. Albans, VT. Now as the Executive Director of Maranatha Mission Home, Kristin is looking to extend the services of Maranatha into Vermont, continuing the work her parents started over 35 years ago.
